SQUAD AND PREVIEW | THUNDER v SUNRISERS (10 MAY)

A squad of thirteen will travel up to Sale for Wednesday’s away fixture against Thunder, in the fifth Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy game of the season.

We welcome Jodi Grewcock and Mia Rogers back into the squad. Grewcock returns after her exam, and has so far this year played a key role with the bat, whilst Rogers is featuring for the first time this summer. Lissy Macleod and Scarlett Hughes are the two to miss out.

Sunrisers head into the clash after three home defeats, the latest coming against South East Stars last Friday. In a shortened game, the Sunrisers bowlers limited Stars to 151/9 from 29 overs, with Abtaha Maqsood taking another four wickets. However, they struggled to get going with the bat – only Cordelia Griffith (27) and Kate Coppack (11*) making it into double figures.

The side will be looking to regain the momentum they had at the start of the season in the final RHFT game of this opening block, ahead of the Charlotte Edwards Cup T20 competition starting at Chelmsford next week.

Thunder will begin the game below Sunrisers in the table, having started the season with two defeats, a wash out, and a tie in their last game against Central Sparks. England’s Sophie Ecclestone (74) top-scored for the Lancashire outfit, alongside an Emma Lamb 56, as they posted 234 batting first at Old Trafford. Then, with DLS adjusting the target to 224, Kate Cross (3 for 40), Tara Norris (2 for 36), and Ecclestone (2 for 33) took regular wickets to impact the Sparks chase. The visitors took 35 runs from the final five overs to finish level with the DLS score and the game ended in a tie.

The game starts at 10.30am at Sale Cricket Club, in Lancashire. We wish a safe journey to those who are making the journey up north, or you can tune into the Live Stream on Lancashire’s YouTube channel and in the Match Centre on the day.
