SQUAD AND PREVIEW | SUNRISERS v STORM (19 JUNE)

Sunrisers have named a squad of thirteen for the final Charlotte Edwards Cup fixture of the summer, hosting Western Storm at The Cloud County Ground, Chelmsford.

The fixture with Storm will see us welcome over 300 local school children to the ground, which will provide an exciting atmosphere in the stands. The game gets underway at 11.30am.

Sunrisers head into the game off the back of defeat to South East Stars at the Oval on Saturday, despite another half-century from captain Grace Scrivens at the top of the order.

In a match affected by rain in the capital, Scrivens and Jo Gardner (23*) shared an unbeaten 68 run partnership which also saw Gardner become the third player to pass 1,000 competitive runs for the region.

Rain ended the game prematurely as we fell to a 19 run defeat on DLS, after Mady Villiers had picked up another two wickets to take her season tally up to 20.

Wednesday’s game will see Storm return to Chelmsford for the first time since May 2022, where Storm won off the last ball in a thrilling contest.

They come into the game having lost by 28 runs to Northern Diamonds on Sunday, with one win and two no results against their name in the campaign – beating Sunrisers by 28 runs in Taunton at the end of May.

The game starts at 11.30am at The Cloud County Ground, with tickets still available to buy online. Tickets cost £10 for adults, and £5 for U18s, whilst entry is free for all Essex, Middlesex, and Northamptonshire members by showing your membership card at the gate.
