Sunrisers are excited to announce that exciting young all-rounder Grace Scrivens has extended her contract with the club.
The nineteen-year-old, who has taken over the Sunrisers captaincy for the last month of the season, has played a key role with both bat and ball ever since the regional structure came into place three years ago.
She made her debut in Sunrisers’ first ever fixture at the age of just sixteen, and was an ever present until halfway through this campaign, where she was called into the England set-up which forced her to miss the trip to Hove in our final Charlotte Edwards Cup game of the 2023 summer.
Scrivens has enjoyed an extremely successful year and a half, becoming a regular feature in the England A setup – including being handed the captaincy for the fifty over series against Australia A.
She’s currently the leading run scorer in our Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy campaign, after cleaning up at last year's awards ceremony – claiming five accolades including Player of the Season. She also won the ICC’s Player of the Month award in January after impressing in the U19 T20 Women’s World Cup.
Sunrisers Head Coach Andy Tennant, said: “We are delighted that Grace has decided to commit her future to Sunrisers, as she’s an integral part of the team both on and off the field.
We look forward to working with her to take her game to the next level and help her build on the successful start she has had to her professional career, and help her take her game to the next level and to fulfill her undoubted elite performance potential.”
After signing her new contract, Scrivens commented: “I’m delighted to have signed another contract with Sunrisers. As a team, I feel the direction that we are heading is really exciting, and I’m glad to be a part of that journey and continue building it.
The environment that has been created, by both the players and the staff, is very fun and supportive and I love being part of it. I’m hoping that we can finish this season well, and I’m already looking forward to next season with this team.”
