Sunrisers are excited to share that, this week, Ariana Dowse has signed her first professional contract with the club.
The Sussex-born top-order batter made Sunrisers history last month, when she became the first player to hit a competitive Sunrisers century. She scored 105 against The Blaze, where she shared a record breaking 200-run opening partnership with Grace Scrivens.
Dowse has made four appearances since joining the side at the start of September, scoring 161 runs at an average of 40.25, and can provide useful cover behind the stumps.
After signing her first professional contract, Dowse said: “I am so grateful and excited to be awarded my first professional contract with Sunrisers.
Everyone at the club has been so supportive and encouraging, and I’m really looking forward to working hard, developing my game and contributing towards Sunrisers success.”
Sunrisers Head Coach Andy Tennant commented: “We are delighted to have Ariana with us on a full time contract. She has done the hard yards and miles off her own back and shown an incredible drive to be a full time pro cricketer.
She has proven herself this summer through Academy and 2nd XI cricket, before making an instant impact in the first team, with a brilliant hundred in a winning performance against Blaze. I am sure this will be the first of many match winning contributions for Sunrisers.”
