Abtaha Maqsood has been selected in the Scotland squad for their upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier in Spain, which gets underway on 6 September.
The leg-spinner has played 37 times for her country, and captained them for the first time in July. She is also Scotland’s leading wicket taker in international T20 cricket, claiming 40 wickets.
The call up will result in Maqsood missing our final two home games of the season as our first team returns to action in September, against Western Storm at Radlett on Tuesday 5 September and Central Sparks at The Cloud County Ground, Chelmsford, on Sunday 10 September. She will return to the group for the away trips to Blaze and Northern Diamonds the following week.
Australian born Middlesex bowler Chloe Abel has also been selected and will be hoping to make her Scotland debut, after receiving international clearance.
Scotland will face Italy, Netherlands, and France over a six day period, with all matches to be broadcast on ICC TV – live from Desert Springs.
