Sunrisers is today delighted to announce the signing of Scotland international Abtaha Maqsood for part of the 2022 season.
She made her Scotland debut against Uganda in 2018 – where she took her best figures of 3/8 – and at 22 years old is already a well-known figure in the game. She’s played 26 matches for her national side, taking 30 wickets at an average of 14.23.

Maqsood herself said: “I am really excited to be playing for Sunrisers this season. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play with and against some of the most talented cricketers in the English domestic set-up and I can’t wait to learn from this experience and grow as a cricketer. I’m very excited to finally get going with the Sunrisers!”
Danni Warren, Regional Director of Women’s Cricket, commented: “It is testament to the culture and momentum we are building here at Sunrisers that a players of Abtaha’s growing reputation has agreed to join us for the summer. As well as the undoubted impact Abtaha will have on our squad we are really looking forward supporting a young, aspirational player as she develops in the game.”
